Project Homeless Connect Norfolk
This nation-wide event started in 2004 in San Francisco, California, and has since spread across the country. Project Homeless Connect (PHC) has since been adopted in more than 220 communities in the U.S., Canada and Australia. PHC has been identified by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness as an innovation that can move people more quickly toward housing and stability.
Not a service fair… Not an information and referral event… An innovation.
PHC is a new way of providing help, focused on immediacy, hospitality, and results for homeless and near homeless individuals. PHC welcomes homeless and near homeless neighbors into the life of the community, changing the way resources are accessed, and achieving quantifiable results for them. Outcomes are expedited, barriers are lowered, obstacles are removed and results are increased. Public and private service providers work side-by-side in a new configuration, with a focus on problem solving and results.
In 2016 service providers in Northeast Nebraska recognized that the number of individuals in our communities living in poverty is rising. And, they decided it was time to adopt the program as well. Now with their hard work and dedication, and the backing of local businesses and service providers, they began planning Project Homeless Connect Norfolk. All of the funds raised will go directly to Project Homeless Connect Norfolk. Other yearly Project Homeless Connect events in Nebraska include Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island, Scottsbluff and Hastings.
